Fiona was a Member of the second Welsh Youth Parliament from
2021 to 2024.
The following was their candidate statement for election to
the second Welsh Youth Parliament:
My key issues are:
- Equality
- for all
- Education/School
System
- Child
and Youth Poverty
Candidate Statement: Hello to all girls, boys, non-binary
folk and everyone in between. My name is Fiona and I live in Cardiff, I go to Llanishen High School and use she/her pronouns.
The reason I want to represent you in the Welsh Youth
Parliament is simple, to make a change. I want to make sure your ideas and
beliefs are heard so that we can change this country for the better. My
confidence would allow me to make sure everyone knows what YOU believe.
Equality is imperative, for everyone. No matter gender
identity, sexual/romantic orientation, race, religion. Everyone deserves the
same rights, as a member of the LGBTQ+ community I feel very strongly about
this.
The Education System does not prepare students for the
future, it prepares us for the past. After all, it was created to train
students to work in factories. Did you know homework was created as a
punishment? In 2020, I made the reform of the education system my debate topic.
It's an issue I strongly believe needs addressing.
Whatever issues are bothering you, I will make sure they are
addressed if I am elected.
I appreciate you reading this, thank you.
