Candidate Statement: I am applying to be a Member of the
Welsh Youth Parliament because I have the skills and experience to successfully
voice the opinions of young people. I have a lot of experience in public
speaking. I won an award (in north Wales) for making a presentation in the
Welsh Tasty Careers competition and I have spoken publicly many times at school
and in chapel. The issues that I will focus on are education, the Welsh
language and health and care. I would like to see smaller classes in our
schools so that teachers are able to spend more time on the pupils per subject
and this would be fairer. I would also like to see more teachers being trained
in education, to see more subjects through the medium of Welsh. On the Welsh
language, I would like to see more training to use the Welsh language in shops
and companies, and preserving Welsh house and farm names. I would like to see
businesses and private companies using the Welsh language more. I would
highlight the long lists for treatment in our hospitals, by giving more money.
