Rhian was a Member of the first
Welsh Youth Parliament from 2018 to 2021.
The following was her candidate
statement for election to the first Welsh Youth Parliament:
My Key Issues are:
- Betterment of the Environment
- Improved Living Standards in Cardiff
- Importance of the Education System
Representing the voices of
young people has never been so required and prominent than right now. By
becoming a Youth Parliament member, I hope to not only ensure that this
newfound importance continues but is focused into the community around me.
Politics needs to be accessible to all.
By voting for me you will
ensure that young people like you, at the grass roots, will make a recognisable
change. Issues which I aim to bring to light are issues that concern you not
only as a young person, but as a young person in Cardiff. Education, living
standards and the Environment are three of the many important topics that are
imperative to discuss in terms of youth representation.
I will work directly with
members of my constituency in a friendly but also professional matter, to
listen to the factors they think are important. Being involved in politics not
only means representation but also empathy and understanding. I hope to be
elected in order to improve my city and lay a foundation for the younger
generation to grow and build upon.
