Laura was a Member of the second Welsh Youth Parliament from

The following was her candidate statement for election to
the second Welsh Youth Parliament:
My key issues are:
- Environment
- Focusing on water quality
- Mental
health - Removing the stigma
- Increased
diversity of youth opportunity
Candidate Statement: My name is Laura Green - I'm a 16 year
old Student studying at Deeside Sixth Form, passionate about local issues
concerning my community and particularly those affecting my age group or
younger then myself.
Having lived through High School and witnessed first-hand
how my friends, family and school mates have suffered from various issues,
increased pressures and challenges - it is clear that more needs to be done to
raise awareness of support available to young people to help them cope.
Being a firm believer in the power of community - I have
been part of an inclusive drama group and music facility for many years and
have seen the benefits that our group activity and sense of community has made.
As well as this I have achieved my Bronze DofE award - showing the strength of
team work and communication, a key skill needed to be a successful candidate if
I want to understand issues faced by my community.
Such as environmental issues, mental health and diversity in
opportunities available.
I want to be a WYPM as I believe in the power of democratic
representation, the importance of engaging and representing the views of my
local communities on the big decisions.
