Jack was a Member of the second Welsh Youth Parliament from
2021 to 2024.
The following was his candidate statement for election to
the second Welsh Youth Parliament:
My key issues are:
Supporting
children's education after COVID
Credit
system for young people
Engage
all students in sports
Candidate Statement: My interest in politics was sparked
during the 2017 General Election because I believed, and still believe, that power
needed to be handed back to the people. I have also been a member of my
constituency Labour Party since April 2020 and a member of the Rhydywaun School Council since 2021. I deserve to be a
member of the Youth Parliament because I will express my ideas on how we can
improve the lives and education of future generations. I will also seek to have
as wide an audience as possible, so I will engage with young people in my area
through the use of social media.
If I'm elected, I would strive to implement my ideas,
including extra support to young people in their education post-COVID to help
students adapt. Also, I'll push for more activities in physical education to
engage ALL students and keep them fit and healthy. Finally, I would like to see
a credit system introduced to young people, especially those who come from
poorer households, giving them the support they need to buy essentials. If
you’d like to see these and other ideas implemented, then I believe that I’m
the right candidate.
