Candidate Statement: My name is Ellis, I’m 14 and a proud
bilingual gay Welshman. I want to become a member of the WYP so I can represent
my peers and give the underrepresented young people of Wales a voice. I have a
great understanding of politics and the effects it has on young people in
Wales. Using my understanding of this, I can help improve the lives of young
people in Cardiff Central and beyond. Politics has been an interest of mine for
a long time. Recently, I have been fortunate enough to be able to meet with
politicians from a variety of parties. I am currently a member of Cardiff and
Vale Youth Board, involving working with several different organisations to
achieve a better lifestyle for young people. If I was elected, I would focus on
mental health issues, LGBTQ+ rights and the school curriculum. Through my
experiences as a student, I believe that I can make education a more supportive
and inclusive environment for the children and young people of Wales.
