Efan was a Member of the first
Welsh Youth Parliament from 2018 to 2021.
The following was his candidate
statement for election to the first Welsh Youth Parliament:
My Key Issues are:
- Opportunities to achieve our best
- Free gyms and pools
- Plastic-free Wales and better transport
I’ve always lived in Pontypridd.
I love it and want it to be a happier, energetic and exciting area for young
people.
Pontypridd should be a place
where we can achieve our best and have the same opportunities as people from
more prosperous places.
We need more facilities which
allow us to thrive - challenging us and keeping our minds and bodies healthy.
Young people should have free access to local public gyms, leisure centres and
swimming pools. Our schools also need more counselling and mindfulness
resources - anyone can struggle with mental health problems at any time.
Saving our planet from
destruction has been left to our generation. We need to take
responsibility. We should create a Wales which is free from single-use plastics
and we must improve bus, train and cycle routes.
I will also work to protect and
promote the Welsh language and the unique culture and heritage of Pontypridd.
You can trust me to be a strong
voice for the young people of Pontypridd. I’ve done work experience in
Parliament, I’m on my school council and I’m a member of the RCT youth forum.
I’m passionate about fairness and equality. I will make sure that our voices
matter.
