Candidate Statement: I wish to become a Welsh Youth
Parliament member in order to make a positive difference, not only in my
constituency, but in Wales as a whole. I am hard-working, conscientious and
enjoy helping others. If I were to be elected, I would ensure that not only my
own opinions were heard, but also the voices of my peers.
One of my main priorities, if I were to be elected, would be
to encourage more young people to take an interest in politics, as it affects
our everyday lives.
I would also focus on the environment. Issues such as global
warming and climate change are some of the biggest problems we currently face,
problems the majority of young people are worried about. I want to do as much
as I can to help protect and improve our surroundings.
An alarming number of young people across Wales suffer with
poor mental health, a problem worsened due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent
lockdowns. I aim to help people affected by mental health issues, whether they
struggle themselves, or know people who do.
