Roan was a Member of the second Welsh Youth Parliament from
2021 to 2024.
The following was his candidate statement for election to
the second Welsh Youth Parliament:
My key issues are:
- Improving
Mental Health Support
- Equal
Opportunities For All Children
- Cutting
Taxes For Working Families
Candidate Statement: I am running for the Welsh Youth
Parliament to ensure that every single young person within my constituency feels
that their voice can be heard on the national stage. I believe that the biggest
issues in our society are often those that aren't discussed, a problem that I
argue stems from the youth of today being largely ignored by the politicians
that run our country. My objective is to
ensure that no matter your race, sexuality, religion, gender identity, or
social background, you feel represented by my campaign.
Coming from working-class roots myself, the values of hard
work and community spirit that Wales prides itself on are central to my own
beliefs. I wish to be a voice for those who are just like me; the children of
the parents that work hard to drive this nation forward. This is one of the
many reasons why I am an ideal candidate to represent your interests in the
Senedd.
If successful, my platform will largely focus upon improving
the lives of young people in Wales, including greater access to healthcare,
providing more opportunities for success, and lobbying the government to cut
the cost of living for families on a limited income.
