Owain was a Member of the second Welsh Youth Parliament from
2021 to 2024.
The following was his candidate statement for election to
the second Welsh Youth Parliament:
My key issues are:
Securing
housing for young people
The
future of the Welsh language
Global
warming
Candidate Statement: Currently in Wales, we face many
threats. We have global problems like climate change and problems that are literally
on our doorstep, like second homes pushing house prices up and pushing local
people out. This problem is destroying our communities, destroying our language
and destroying our future in the area. I firmly believe that we need a solution
to these problems in order to secure a future for Wales. If elected, I would
have my say on these issues, and would express any other message that the young
people in my area want me to raise in y Senedd. I would achieve this by using
social media websites, where it would be easy to contact me. I believe that I
am a suitable candidate for this role as I am interested in politics and have a
thorough understanding of the problems we face. I also have past experience in
voicing my opinions and presenting ideas to an audience, for example, being
part of my school year forum and also presenting my Welsh Baccalaureate
enterprise project to a local charity. I hope I can count on your vote. Thank
you.
