Biography

Candidate Statement: My name is Olive Alys Anwen Burns and I am 15 years old, from Canton, Cardiff. My favourite subjects are Maths, Chemistry and Drama. I have been part of the equality groups Digon and Newid Ffem in Plasmawr for a number of years, because it is my main priority to make our school a better place for the LGBTQ+ community, and to ensure equality for all individuals. As a member of these, I have met ministers, such as Jeremy Miles, and taken part in a number of interesting and creative projects. I am very interested in politics, and have recently taken part in events such as the MCOP 29, debating competitions, and a discussion with Mark Drakeford. When I'm older, I aspire to work in law or politics. I want to be part of the Welsh Youth Parliament because equality is something that is close to my heart, and something that I am passionate about fighting for.  I don't think equality is discussed enough in politics, and this is something I would like to change.
