Biography

Milly was a Member of the second Welsh Youth Parliament from 2021 to March 2023.

The following was her candidate statement for election to the second Welsh Youth Parliament:

I’m passionate about utilising my personal experiences to raise awareness of issues relating to care experienced children and young people (CYP).  The social services system has influenced the course of my life and I understand the disadvantages that can hinder care experienced CYP’s progress in life.

I shall be regularly meeting with the CYP who attend Participation groups facilitated by NYAS.  These groups consist of CYP from across Wales who are committed to positive change, their views will be my influence.

I have a detailed insight into how poorly written laws can lead to harm, misinterpretation or neglect through omission. Through injustices throughout my life I am driven to make sure no other care experienced CYP should have to go through the same. I want to effect that change.

I would be a strong advocate to represent children and young people who are unable to find their own voice and I am a good listener. I have completed Peer Advocacy and Peer Mentoring training which along with my A Level choices (Law, Sociology &History) will enhance my skills to be a strong representative. Also I am a member of Bright Sparks the Participation Group for care experienced CYP in Cardiff.
