Finley was a Member of the second Welsh Youth Parliament
from 2021 to 2024.
The following was his candidate statement for election to
the second Welsh Youth Parliament:
My key issues are:
- Life
Education - Politics, Taxes, etcetera
- Improved
Leisure facilities for youth
- Promoting
the Welsh language effectively
Candidate Statement: I want to be a member of Welsh Youth
Parliament to be a voice for the young people of my constituency, to represent
youth voices properly. I want my constituents voices to be heard clearly and
speak up about issues that matter most to them in Wales.
I will consult with young people through the most accessible
medium to the youth, social media. I will ensure that they can directly message
me to raise their concerns about the area and what I can do to improve their
area.
I believe people should vote for me as I will be an
accessible member of Welsh Youth Parliament engaging with young people through
social media. I believe young people should vote for me because I want to
listen to their concerns, and I want to end any concerns that they have.
I believe I have lots of experience that is transferable
that would make me a good Welsh youth Parliament member, my experience on the
school council and on the children’s commissioner of Wales’ child advisory
panel would make me a great candidate, as they have taught me listening and
communication skills. These skills will be invaluable when engaging with
constituents.
