Candidate Statement: Hi, I am
Elliott, I have been in kinship, foster care and residential care. I am
passionate about children's rights and specifically children in care.
Overcoming barriers, I have faced due to my neurodivergences has made me who I
am today. My hobbies are volunteering in my local community Centre playing the
drums and piano, I am one of the youngest VFCC advisory group member and
Ambassador. I want to be a biology teacher and have a love for science and
anything to do with the human mind and body. I am very vocal about teaching
self-advocacy in the care system. I am an honest and loyal person.
The key issues for me are the
support provided to children and young people in care, funding and support
provided by mental health and neurodivergent services and improving
understanding of special educational needs and mental health within schools.
