What Happened and When?

Our recent Welsh Youth Parliament weekend (21-23 November), brought our Members from across Wales together for important discussions, teamwork, and fun! The highlights of the weekend was our Plenary[MC1]  session, where we all gathered to share updates and celebrate milestones.

Committee Highlights and Key Updates

The Crime and Safety Committee also took centre stage, sharing the findings from their consultation and officially launching their report, Safe, Included and Heard.

This report reflects months of hard work, reflecting voices from across Wales, focusing on ow we can make our schools and colleges safer and more inclusive.

Plenary saw the Cost of Living and Poverty Committee and the Public Transport and Active Travel Committee update on their ongoing work. This is a great example of how these committees are tackling issues that affect young people every day.

The session was also a special moment in our history, it was the last Plenary chaired by the Llywydd, Elin Jones MS.

At the start of the meeting, we took time to thanks her for her incredible support and leadership throughout her time with the Welsh Youth Parliament. It was a heartfelt moment that reminded us how much we’ve achieved together.

Looking Ahead: Next Steps and Fun Moments

Outside of Plenary, we held Committee meetings to plan our next steps for next year. There was also plenty of time for fun activities like bowling. These moments helped us bond as a group and recharge for the work ahead.

We left the weekend feeling proud, motivated, and ready to keep making a difference. Here’s to everything we’ll achieve next!

[MC1]A Plenary session is a formal meeting where all members (of the WYP) come together to discuss key issues, share updates, and make decisions as a whole group. It’s an important part of the Parliament’s work, giving every member a voice and ensuring that progress on committees and campaigns is shared openly.
